Hector "Chino Perez expresses both the human celebration and struggle in his mostly surrealist paintings. These
themes are not surprising as he himself overcame losing his painting arm in a car crash in the 90s and has recreated
himself to paint with his other hand. His art is a testimony to the recreation of life that one is capable and the variety
of his art speaks to the breadth of his life experiences. Chino has had private and group exhibits throughout Cuba, in
Canada, Mexico, Europe and the US. Chino is part of the 10th of October artist collective in a historic Habana
neighborhood. He will be a featured "artist in residence" with the Vallarta Institute and Galeria HabanaVallarta in late
2007.
